Fostering diversity and an intellectual environment, Rice University is a comprehensive research university located on a 300-acre tree-lined campus in Houston, Texas. Rice produces the next generation of leaders and advances tomorrow’s thinking. One of the special qualities of the Rice community is our diversity, which includes our religious and cultural vibrancy. A recent survey by Rice’s Boniuk Institute for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance found that the Rice student body is very religiously diverse compared to the general U.S. population, with more than 60% of Holi, a festival of color, is one of the major festivals of India. The purpose of this event is to bring Indian communities at Rice together by celebrating this festival and allowing them to connect with their culture. The point that Rice is very STEM dominated is really important - and more focused than engineering than the non- premed natural sciences (I.e much more focus on biochem than ecology, etc). Also, to add one other point - Rice is very much a Texas university. About half of the undergrad population is in-state. coming to Rice: if your visa from your former university has not expired, you can still use it, as long as you have a valid I-20 from Rice when re-entering the US. You may get a new visa, but it is not necessary. If you will not be leaving the US, you should still check in with OISS when arriving at Rice. About Us.
