Holi, also called the Festival of Colors, is a Hindu holiday marking the end of winter and the beginning of spring. People traditionally celebrate by throwing colored powder at each other. HSO brought 1,500 pounds of paint to the most recent festival in which students of all faiths participated. Holi, the Festival of Colors, is a celebration that dates back to 400 C.E., marking the transition from winter to spring. With roots in Indian mythology, the festival is presented and executed differently from region to region. For Columbia students, the event doubly acts as a primer for Bacchanal.
