To promote Hinduism's spiritual and cultural HTCC bought 5 acres of Land in an undeveloped part of Shawnee, Kansas, relatively close to where the majority of Hindus in the Kansas City Area lived. [2] On October 27, 1985, the groundbreaking ceremony began and on May 22, 1988, the Hindu Temple was opened and held an opening ceremony with thousands in attendance. March 11th from 11am-5:30pm there will be a Holi Celebration at the Hindu Temple and Cultural Center of Kansas City. There will be a Holi Festival in Roe Park on March 18th starting at noon. The event is free and will have live music, but food, beverages and color packets will be available for purchase! Youth Centre: Youth Group of Kansas City is affiliated with the Hindu Temple and Cultural Centre of Kansas City. HTCCOFKC Youth Group is geared toward individuals between the ages of 16-18.
